Today, I met with Deborah, the life coach. We had our meeting with just the two of us. Basically, we went over the technical stuff about who she is, what our goals are and our course of action. Again, I was overwhelmed at how BIG and in control God is. In our session today she shared a couple of scriptures with me and you guessed it. . . they were two of my favorite scriptures. The first one was Romans 8:28 and the second one was Philippians 4:8. She gave me some homework and this is not going to be easy. I have to write 100 things that I like about myself. I’m not too sure about that. I could tell you about someone else; however, trying to find that many things that I like about myself will be tough. Also, we had time to talk about something that I wanted to talk about which turned out to be a really good thing. I was starting to feel stressed out about the “weighing in” scale thing. I was starting to feel pressured by the scale. I was standing on the back part of the scale because I think that it weighed less there than if I stood in the middle. I wanted so desperately to have success that I just continued to fool myself about my progress. We talked about this and came to the realization that I need to speak up about how I was feeling pressured by the scale. I was able to verbalize that issue and the whole scale thing was handled. Now when I get weighed, I get weighed standing in the center of the scale and not on the back end of it. I’m not quite sure how that will go as my legs are really too fat to stand with them together to get a real accurate reading as to the pounds; however, eventually, this problem will be resolved as the weight continues to melt off. My legs WON’T be huge forever.

Today was a big day because I also met with the personal trainer for the first time to actually get under way with the exercise portion of my program. I love to exercise; however, I am NOT really fond of walking so guess what we did for exercise? You guessed it. . . we WALKED!!! We went to Miller Grove High School. This is a new school and the track was wonderful. I believe it is asphalt and it is nice and flat and cushions the impact as you walk. I managed to walk around the track one time which is 1/4 of a mile. Yvette, the trainer, was impressed that I did the whole lap. She wasn’t sure if I would be able to do that or not. When we started she told me we could stop whenever I wanted to. I really wanted to make it the full way around the track and I DID! I think that I only stopped 2 or 3 times for my heart to slow down or to take a breath. After we made it around the track she had me do some side leg lifts. THOSE were murder!!! She had me do 3 sets of 30 each. I’m sure that I will feel that tomorrow. Also, Yvette, informed me that by next week I would be doing at least 2 laps around the track. At first she said that she was going to wait for two weeks before introducing the weights to our program; however, after seeing how agile I was she allowed as how she was going to bring some small hand weights tomorrow for me to use as we walk. She said that I have good swing to my arms when I walk, so, she is going to bring some hand weights for me to use as I walk. This will facilitate me in tightening up the fat upper arms as I walk. Joy and I duscussed walking in the mornings as well. Perhaps we will wait until next week after we have one week of continuous workout under our belts. All in all I enjoyed the exercise. When I was done I felt like I had actually accomplished something for myself. I know that this will continue because there are people who will push me when I don’t want to push. I’m sure I will learn the true meaning of pushing through the pain.

Tonight we went to a meeting at Chapel Hill Church. Bernard invited us to go to an Overcomer’s meeting. I am figuring that this is like a 12 step program for various issues that people have.

The meeting happened to be a graduation ceremony for 12 of the people who had completed the program. It was a nice time. I enjoyed hearing the testimonies of these people who had allowed Christ to change their lives and see how valuable they were as people. Now they are taking what they have learned and are going to go out and help others “Overcome” their issues. I am looking forward to being able to do this very thing. As far as me committing to this program right now, I am really not feeling it. I think that working one on one with the life coach will be extremely beneficial; however, I am open to whatever God has for me to do.
